Typing Guide
A short, practical guide to getting faster and more accurate — in the order that actually works.
Start with accuracy, not speed
Speed without accuracy just means more time spent correcting mistakes. Slow down until your error rate is low, then let speed build naturally on top of that foundation.
Use touch typing, not looking
Try to keep your eyes on the screen instead of the keyboard. It feels slower at first, but it's the single biggest unlock for real typing speed.
Practice in short, focused sessions
Ten to fifteen minutes of deliberate practice most days beats one long session a week. Use Practice for drills by category, and Lessons for a structured path from easy to hard.
Take a benchmark regularly
The Benchmark test is fixed at 2 minutes so your results are directly comparable over time. Run it weekly and watch your Dashboard trend line move.
Turn practice into games when you're tired of drills
The Arcade reframes the same fundamentals — typing accurately under time pressure — as fast, focused games. Great for keeping practice consistent without it feeling repetitive.
Aim for 40+ WPM to certify
Once a completed test clears 40 WPM, you can generate a certificate of proficiency from the Certificates page — no account required.
