Do I need an account?
No. Every feature — tests, practice, games, dashboard, certificates — works fully signed out. Results are saved to this device automatically. Accounts (for cross-device sync and a real multi-student leaderboard) are planned for a later phase.
Where is my data stored?
In your browser's local storage, on this device only. Clearing your browser's site data will remove it. Nothing is sent to a server.
How do I get a certificate?
Reach 40+ WPM on any completed test, then visit the Certificates page and click "Generate Certificate." It downloads as a PDF instantly — no sign-up required.
Why does the Leaderboard only show my own runs?
There's no account system yet, so there's no way to compare across different people's devices. The Leaderboard currently ranks your own best local runs; a real cross-student leaderboard arrives once accounts do.
Can I use my own text for practice?
Yes — the Custom Tests page lets you paste in any text (at least 20 characters) and turn it into a replayable typing test.
How is WPM calculated?
Gross WPM counts every typed character (correct or not) divided by 5, over elapsed minutes. Net WPM subtracts incorrect characters, so it reflects effective, usable speed.
Is TypeGenius free?
Yes, entirely free, with no ads and no account required to use any feature.
